When you are looking for a dating site, there are a number of things that you need to be aware of in terms of which site is right for your needs. One of the dangers is dating scammers who post up information that does not reflect who they really are. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to spot dating scammers because they have grown cleverer over the years.
Still, there are a number of methods you can use to spot a scammer before going out on a date with them. Here are five methods you can use to spot dating scammers quickly and easily.
Photo Doesn't Appear Recent
An old photo is one warning sign that this may be a dating scammer. Perhaps it is them, but if the photo was taken 20 years ago it doesn't represent what they look like today. Their portrait photo should be a recent one and from a digital camera, not an old film version as that is a dead giveaway. Keep in mind that other photos they post can be from past events, but their profile photo should look like a recent one.
Information Doesn't Match
Conflicting information is another giveaway that this may be a dating scammer. Quite often, they will post false information without checking to see if it matches. For example, if they say they served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1971 and then said they were at Woodstock, then this would be an issue. Any conflicting information is a sign that something is not right and you should probably avoid them.
Will Not Discuss Details of Past
Another sign of a scammer is that they provide very few details of their past. This means that they will only talk in vague generalities and rarely bring up specific events. While many people may be naturally hesitant about talking past events, there is a noticeable difference when you try to peg them on certain information.
If you are not certain, bring up a specific subject and see where it goes. If they are still reluctant, then you might want to pass.
Overly Aggressive: Dating scammers tend to be bold in action, so be wary of those who want to meet you right away. You should only meet with them after you are comfortable talking or messaging them on the dating site. If they are pushy, then you should avoid them by all means. There is no reason for anyone to be in a rush on a dating site.
Stick with Proven Dating Websites
You'll want to stick to dating sites that carefully screen members. You'll know from being screened yourself the process, so by sticking to such sites you can better protect yourself. Still, that does not mean a determined dating scammer will stay away, but with fewer of them on the site it will be easier to spot them
Plus, there may be other members who post warnings that you should read if the person is not what they seem to be. By being a little careful, you can avoid a dating scammer. This entry was posted by Admin on 05/02/2016
